After the success of his first album, Senegalese Akon once again surprised everybody with “Smack That”, the lead single from his sophomore album, “Konvicted”.
Akon’s first album “Trouble” which featured the hit single “Locked Up” sold almost 3 million copies. But this time the talented singer decided to try something different.
Deviating from his traditional ruggedly classic styles, Smack Thatfeatures a danceable beat that will surely appeal to club hoppers. The single is actually different from the other songs in the album. “Mama Africa” is delivered with a smoother reggae tone while “Never Took the Time” was more of a ballad. The other singles “Blown Away”, “Gangsta Bop” and “Blown Away” will also certainly be certified hits.
Still, Akon’s great vocals and songwriting skills are evident in all the songs. “Konvicted” already sold 2.2 million copies to date and fans are certainly waiting for the next Akon album.
